Clothings to take to melbourne?

I'll be going to the university of melbourne in less than a month so i gotta start clothes shopping, since i come from a tropical country(malaysia to be exact) im not really familiar with what sorta clothes are suitable for the varying seasons in australia, just wanna know what sorta clothes should i bring there(heard it gets cold this time of the year). and is it bring clothes from malaysia or just buy em there?

it will be quite cold when you get there so you will need warm clothes and a warm coat

summer can get hot so your usual summer gear will be fine

Yes, it is gonna be very cold in Aug. Get plenty of warm clothes, Jeans (even a few wool undergarments) to get you started since you are only allow 20kg baggage. Also, pack some shoes as they can be more expensive here. In summary, bring as much as you can but not to worry as once you arrive, you can buy more clothings from here. The shops have sales pretty often or visit "Bridge Road" - whole stretch of road where discount shops are.
