Cloudy pool water?????

I have a intex vinyl- metal framed pool. Ever since about three weeks ago the water has been very cloudy. I have tried clarifier twice and shocking it numerous times. Every time no one is in the pool all off the fine particles settle to the bottom of the pool and the water is mostly clear. But as soon as we get in it gets cloudy again! I have vacuumed it many times and again it just stirs all the dirt into the water and it becomes cloudy. It has a Type A filter cartridge. Tried cleaning it numerous times and also replacing it but no luck any ideas?

  1. Try cleaning you filter. If that doesn't work drain pool and scrub it.

  2. A high calcium hardness level can cause cloudy water.

Basically, it means you have a high level of calcium in your water.  This usually occurs from using granular chlorine as it contains calcium.  Some brands have more than others i.e. a low or poor grade granular chlorine can have high levels of calcium and should be avoided.

Some people get around it by mixing their granular chlorine in a bucket before adding to their pool.  They allow the white undissovled calcium to settle on the bottom of the bucket and then avoid adding it to their pool.

The filter that comes with an Intex pool - unfortunately has fairly poor filtration capabilities - it really is not up to the job.

The main problem caused by high calcium hardness - it builds up on and damages pool equipment - Chlorinator cells, heater elements, pool cleaners - I'm guessing that you have none of these, so it is mainly a cosmetic problem.

There are two solutions to high calcium - dump the water, or there are some products out there which will bind with the calcium.

    All the best!

  3. use clorox laundry cleaner
