My maroon clown is 6 1/2...so I don't expect him to live much longer just cuz maroons only live 6-7 years. When he dies I want to get more clowns for my saltwater tank. Preferrably maroon. I was wondering if I got 6 litlle 3/4 to an inch long clowns for my 92 gallon marine tank and let them pair off as they grow would I have to worry about them fighting, or should I just get 2 and let them be a pair?? I got 2 maroons for the tank at first afer 6 years the big female died and now the male has changed to a female. (That is what maroons do...or at least thats what the idiots guide to a saltwater aquarium says!) I was just wondering If I could get 6 for the tank if I raise them from 3/4ths of an inch long or should I still just stick to one pair since they are so territorial? The tank has lots of live rock for hideing in.

  1. it's better to start them off in a bigger group, let them pair off and then give away the ones which would disturb the peace of the tank

and yes, they do change gender, you're informed correctly
