I have a cheap set of starter clubs and a used set of Nike's. The seven Irons have about a half inch diference on them, with the nike being the shorter. I have gone to several websites fro club fitting and they say i should be coing .25-.5 longer on clubs. Should I get the Nike's fitted.

  1. Googie is right. The nikes would have to be re-shafted. And fitting does not measure clubs to you, it measures you, and finds the right clubs for you. Also, do not evaluate the length of your clubs by 7i. Most setlengths are based on the length of the 6iron or 5iron depended upon certain factors (i.e. 8 or 9 clubs in the set). Take them to a shop and ask them to rough fit you and find out if they would work for you.

  2. I am not sure if you understand the term"fitting". When you purchase a new set of irons, the fitting takes place prior to the purchase in which case the golf pro will determine the lie angle, swing weight, shaft lengths, shaft flexes which suit your build as well as your swing speed. If the old clubs are in your possession, the lie angle, swing weight, shaft lengths and flexes are already there. They cannot be altered.

  3. Depends on how much you like the Nikes, it may be cheaper to get fitted and buy a new set. However, if you like the Nikes, you can get fit and have the clubs adjusted to your swing. Most good club makers can adjust lie angle, loft, swing weight, length, and many other variables. Getting fit is always a good idea.

  4. It's really no big deal to install shaft extensions into the Nike clubs.  Any pro shop can do this for you for  a little over the cost of new grips.  check it out.  Important note :   I would have them do a loft/lie adjustment on top of the shaft extensions, by doing this , you will benefit more than you can imagine.    Play well.
