Club Football: Players Who Could Replace Fabregas At Arsenal
There has been quite a lot of speculation going around, involving Arsenal’s captain Cesc Fabregas and him leaving the Gunners and heading back to Barcelona. However there are a few competent players who can actually fill the void that would be created if he does decide to leave.
First on the list is Mesut Ozi, he is a talented player with great vision and good pace. He is only twenty one years old which would make him ideal to be molded to Arsene Wengers style of play at the club. So far Ozil has had a very impressive World Cup, but usually players such as these only have short lived performances so it’s always a risk to invest so much money in them.
Manchester City want away, Stephen Ireland, would be able to make an immediate impact in Arsenals midfield. Lining up with Song and Diaby could potentially turn the midfield into a dangerous force that would have the quality to score every time it attacked. Considering he is not wanted at the club he would cost close to nothing to sign and him being only twenty three years old means that there are still a lot of quality performances left in him.
Yoann Gourcuff is a French player currently at Bordeaux. He is an attacking midfielder, capable of playing behind the striker. This style of play could fit really well with the lineup that Wenger fields. He has scored twenty four goals and had twenty five assists over the past two seasons. The only down side would be the fact that he is only twenty three and just made his international debut, so the asking price for the player would be pretty high.
Ronaldinho, may seem like a odd choice considering his age, but he is one of the most experienced players in the world. He has won the FIFA player of the year and almost every trophy that a player can possibly win. He has knowledge and experience that no one can rival and a man with all these talents would be welcomed into the young squad. However his age might also lead to his downfall since he may not be able to keep up with the fast paced rough style of play that the English Premier League has to offer.
Rafael Van Der Vaart, has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid and is looking for more playing time. He plays in the exact same position as Fabregas does but the big plus will be the fact that Arsenals main goal scorer up front Van Persie is also a Dutch international. Hence there would be good chemistry between them from day one. This could be a signing that could lift Arsenal over the trophy drought that they have been going through.
Currently at Everton, Mikel Arteta is one of the best passers of the ball. He brings with him a great sense of attacking and some breath taking killer passes. Arteta is known to be able to hit a dime all the way to the opposite side of the pitch. This would be a huge plus for Arsenal because with his pin point crossing would come numerous goals. He has only managed to appear thirteen times due to an injury last season, so his current market price is lower than it should be. But if he is able to regain fitness at Arsenal he could be one of the best signings the club has ever made.
