i'm a sophomore and tryouts for club are starting in november. i am deciding to do club for the first time because i want to improve and i want to be able to play next year on varsity. i'm a decent player. i started as a setter my freshman year on the jv team and i am currently the starting setter and captain of my school's jv volleyball team. i'm extremely nervous because i've never done anything like this. i don't know what to expect during tryouts, i don't know what to expect throughout the season if i do club, & i heard that it's expensive. i just want to know what tryouts are like and people's club experiences and if area league gets the same amount of tournaments as the power league...or does power league get more games and tournaments since they travel?

  1. try area

  2. definetely do it... its the best experience ever.. not only do u get better at ur game... but u meet so many new people and you get so close to them and you get to go out of state for tournaments and it is kind of expensive but its definetly worth the money... ive done club volleyball since 6th grade and now im a freshman starting on varsity... tryouts are just like high school tryouts... but for club they split you up into age groups. defintely go for power league... they get more games and tournaments... but during club you only do tournaments you dont play games like in high school. dont ever be nervous just go out there and try your hardest... GOOD LUCK!!!

  3. try to volleyball its fun and enjoying i love that game........so beautiful...........

  4. You should tryout for club.  If you play one season and you do not like it, you can always quit then.  You do not want to be thinking about it 20 years from now and wishing you would have tried out.

As pointed out above, club tryouts are basically the same as high school and junior high school except that you will be trying out against people your own age.

Club can be expensive.  But you can also shop around to find less expensive clubs.  But check out the clubs before deciding.  Sometimes less expensive clubs offer less.  Fewer practices and tournaments and less travel.

I am guessing from your question about power versus area leagues that you are from northern California.  I have been on the ncva web site and seen power and area league information.  It looks like the power and area leagues have the same number of tournaments.

  5. well i dont know where u live but i live in chicago and i play for ultimate its a club/traveling team and they're very good everyone who graduates from ultimate has a volleyball scholorship to college. tryouts are simple they like to see u in the areas(hitting, setting, libero) that ur best in. its really great, this is my second year and i love it!!!! but u have to really love the sport becuz it is expensve but really great
