ClubHotel Riu Merengue or Gran Ventana Beach Resort? Dominican Republic?

Which hotel? Family prefers beach, 2 adults, 2 teenage kids.

Positives and negatives for both please, anyone been to either, personal experiences etc?

Gran Ventana is far better with kids!!! Happy Feet is right about it.

For the kids it is better Playa Dorada, because the sea is not so rough over there and I must admit that the Gran Ventana is a great resort like Happy Feet already told you.

I'm a VIP tour operator here in Puerto Plata, and without any hesitation the Gran Ventana Beach Resort in Playa Dorada is better for your family vacation!!! The beach? The biggest in the Dominican Republic 13 km long! The animation for the kids and for the adults is just a blast!

The Riu Merengue is a very good hotel, but a bit isolated from Puerto Plata and the beach is smaler than Playa Dorada.

I've been 3 times, loved it every time.

The 2 sister hotels are also fantastic, so be sure to make the most of them 2!!

private beach, exelent staff & entertainment.

Excelent for all ages!!!! You won't regret going! i'm so jelous!!!

Also, all hotels do different food choices so if you did for example get sick of the mirengue food (which would make you crazy i must add cos theres so much to choose from) or the entertainment the other hotels are open to you and also cater for everyone!!!

You'l have a great time, be sure to go to the beach party and carnival! excursions are good too - out of complex ones and the beach ones! horse riding on the beach is a must do along with quad biking for the teenagers!!!

Theres even a club onsite for the teenagers! theyl love it.. i can't express how good this hotel is.. you must see for yourself.

The childrens club which my brother and sister went too was fantastic getting the children involved in all the evening entertainment if they wished to! We hardly seen them they were having so much fun!

Riu merengue they chose. The staff are amazing.
