Hey I'm turning 18 in August and would like to know what the good pubs and clubs and random things to do in these areas are:

*Gold Coast (especially surfers paradise, maybe broadbeach)

*Brisbane (city, valley etc)

*Redlands (south east brissy)

Thanks!

  1. Actually Xanthe the wello has the new pub which is actually pretty good - Can't remember what it's called but considering your turning 18 it would be best, it's located on main street, wellington point, opposite the bp on the corner. There is also the alex which is more catered towards younger people. There's also Dicey's at cleveland, just down from the cheesecake shop. But overall if you want the better experience go into the valley, they have more options, just make sure you take friends cuz it gets crazy down there on the weekends.

  2. Hey Ya, Gold Coast i have you covered. there are heaps of fantastic places -

    But go to http://www.good-restaurant-guide.com.au/... and

you can see some places to head to - we are not really pub hangers here in the coast but more restaurant hangers. The pubs here are all RSL'sa re full of old people so not really where you can see all the pretty and fun people - we are all in the restaurants lining the streets and watching everyone until the nightclubs open up!!Happy Birthday and welcome to life!.

  3. Well, the redlands doesn't have a whole lot... as far as night-life goes, it's a bit of a hole.  (Grew up there!!!  Love the area, just not good for 'clubbing')  There is the Wello Point Hotel/Pub or the Alex Hills Hotel/Pub... neither have a very good name though.

The Valley is ok - basically just catch a train in and walk up brunswick street - there are plenty of places in close proximity to each other to choose from.

If you go into Brissy then I love Mick O'Malleys under the Queen St Mall... that has a good sports pub kinda feel.  If you walk down Edward street you will also find the exchange, the vic, etc.  They are ok clubs.  There is also the Chalk Hotel at Woolongabba or the Fox at Southbank.

Haven't been clubbing/pubbing in the Gold Coast yet so can't help you there.  But I would suggest that you just pick somewhere to start and then chat to some people.  We found out about the Valley the first time we went into brisbane by chatting up the security guards on the train!  Lol... just be friendly and ask people where they are going or where they suggest are good places.  They'll tell you how to get there too!
