Cluster chords?

i've been playing piano for 9 1/2 years and up until the other day i have never heard of a cluster chord. i downloaded some music and at the end it said cluster chord and my teacher didnt really know what it was (great teacher) anybody know?

  1. I'm pretty sure a cluster chord is a bunch of notes chromatically next to each other played in one chord. it would be like playing A, Ab, G, F#, and F all together at once. it's not meant to sound good, so it's probably going to sound wrong, but its not.

  4. I'd explain it but it'd take too long...go to wikipedia and search "Tone Cluster" and you'll see the meaning.  It's a long article but the beginning basically sums it up.  Hope that helps.
