hi anyone know how to tighten a clutch on a 93 mondeo petrol thanks

  1. If you have a hydraulic clutch system--which I suspect you have--- they are non adjustable.

    You can try bleeding the hydraulics to insure there is no air in the system.

    If that doesn't solve the problem then you have to take the clutch apart and replace the worn parts.


  2. When you say tighten, do you mean its slipping?, if so it needs replacing not tightening. Quite a big job to attempt yourself and quite expensive at a garage. If the clutch is actually slipping, bleeding will not help as someone has suggested, this would only help the clutch to disengage and not stop it slipping besides the fact that the Mondeo is a cable clutch and not hydraulic.

  3. Yes, as per first answer, they are self adjusting cable operated.

    If it's slipping, you need a new clutch - if the cable or adjuster are faulty, you'll get a loud click & the pedal will go to the floor - new adjuster needed.

  4. Are they not self adjusting; therefore you cannot tighten. You will have to get a new one.
