Clydesdale Bank 40 – Group A – Yorkshire v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817- Middlesex won by six wickets- Match Recap
In a Clydesdale Bank 40 clash, Middlesex beat Yorkshire by six wickets to remain top of Group A, a match played at the Headingley Ground, Leeds, on July 17, 2011.
In a 31 over reduced affair, Middlesex beat their rivals, courtesy of a couple of half centuries from middle-order batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rogers-c1249.
As for the hosts, it continued their abysmal run in the tournament, who remain third from bottom in Group A.
It was Middlesex captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Dexter-c2091, who won the toss and elected to field first.
The start to Yorkshire’s innings was terrible as they lost opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Corey-Collymore-c1283, after Dawid Malan held the catch at the second time of asking.
The innings felt in tatters when skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Paul-Crook-c91337, while the bowler was involved
again removing McGrath, with some scintillating piece of fielding.
Yorkshire batting now rested on the shoulders of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Ballance-c1465, who after an initial act of caution, opened their arms, dispatching the Panthers attack to all parts.
In a 4th wicket stand of 111 between the two, Ballance took charge to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566, taking 17 from his over.  The pair steadied the ship as Ballance brought up a well deserved half-century.
Both then went quickly, with Ballance playing a gem of a knock of 71 off 53 balls, which included 7 fours and a six. Lyth was slow but effective, making 52.
A brief cameo was carried by Jonny Bairstow, who blasted his way to a 15 ball 33, which included 4 sixes, with three in a row in the final over to Coll7ymore, ruining his otherwise good figures of 3-52 in six overs.
The start of the Middlesex innings was solid with openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344, putting on 59 for the first wicket.

However, the innings got a real boost from the middle order pairing of Stirling and Rogers, who compiled more misery on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 bowlers as they shared a quick fire stand of 116 in 13 overs.
Both perished, with Stirling making 57 off 40, which included 5 four and 2 huge sixes, while Rogers contributing evenly by making 51 off 57.
The hard work had been done as skipper, Dexter (7*), alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamie-Dalrymple-c1658(8*), guided their side to  victory with an over to spare.
The win puts Middlesex Panthers on top of the leader board in Group A.
