Cmd screen print help

I know how to get output to show in cmd and I also know how to get the output to print to a file. The problem comes in when I try to print to a file. Of course, there is no output on the screen. Is there a way to do both? I know I can write to a file and then use the TYPE command to print the file but I would like it to write to a file as well as to the screen in real time. That way I can see if a large batch file locks up and where without having to search a file. Does this option even exist?
