It says on the leaflet "With medicines used to treat diarrhoea, such as Loperamide, there is a risk of severe constipation" ..Yesterday morning I took a diarrhoea tablet with Loperamide in it, am I ok to take the tablet because it was over 24 hours ago (even though the diarrhoea tablets constipated me for a while)

  1. Yeah i would say you will be fine now, prolonged and or excessive use of codeine can make you constipated, so if your not a long term user the effects should be minimal. (friend takes for a back prob)

  2. You should be fine. There's a small amount of codeine in co-codamol which can cause constipation but in normal doses it should be fine, certainly less severe than the constiopation tablets. I doubt you'd even notice.

  3. yes, 24 hrs is ok.

  4. Co-codamol contains codiene which yes makes you constipated!!!!  So yes you will be ok to take it but will be a bit constipated for the next few days.  Try a laxative like ex-lax, which is natural senna in a chocolate bar.  You only need one square.  The cramp in your abdomen probably was from constipation.
