The man behind the studio that developed the Halo series has turned his attention to smart phones and aims to provide a hardcore gaming experience on the platform.
Bungie is one of the most well known and respected studios in the gaming industry that introduced the world to one of the most epic series in the first-person shooter genre, Halo.
Originally released on the PC, Halo went on to become a worldwide phenomenon and people expected the sequel to be just as good. Sadly, that did not turn out to be the case as the second game was not ‘as good’ as the first, it was even better.
The same can be said of the third instalment in the series as it broke the previous sales record in the industry. Halo ODST and Halo: Reach followed in two games that would turn out to be the last to be developed by Bungie.
The studio then sold the rights to the Halo series to Microsoft who have decided to bring Master Chief, the game’s protagonist, back for another trilogy.
However, while Microsoft is busy doing that Alex Seropion, the co-founder of Bungie, is looking to tread new ground for the studio as he is set to bring a true gaming experience for the core gamers on to the mobile phone platform.
“We believe in the future of mobile.” Pitched the founder of Industrial Toys, his new studio, before going on an assault aimed at all the other game developers that cater to the mobile platform. “No more excuses for inferior game play, graphics, and idle time-wasters with cute names and elementary mechanics.”
Though he did not specify exactly which games he was referring to one can pretty sure that was aimed at titles such as Angry Birds, Doodle Jump and Cut the Rope, as they fit the description given.
He went on to explain that such games showed a lack of respect to the core gamers who were looking for something with more depth and also outlined the vision his studio would be following.
“And we’re prepared to over deliver with something they’re never seen in the world of mobile – artistically envisioned high-quality production, intricately advance layers of narrative and gameplay in a free-to-play model designed to inspire rather than exploit.”
Honestly speaking, we’re rather looking forward to it.
