Coach Chan Gailey tries to soothe Buffalo Bills fans – NFL News
The Buffalo Bills face one of their toughest times being stripped off their playoff chances after a 37-10 loss to the San Diego Chargers last Sunday.
No one could have thought of Bills losing the postseason contention after a terrific start of 5-2. It had seemed as if the Bills would surely make it with the determination they were moving ahead. However an outstanding performance
by Philip Rivers of the Chargers put an end to Buffalo’s last chance of avoiding elimination from playoffs for the 12th straight year.
Head Coach Chan Gailey moved in to offer solace to the dejected fans of Bills. The Bills official site showed Gailey saying “I totally understand”.
As it turns out it may not turn out t o be enough on part of Gailey to soothe the outburst of emotions being felt by the Bills fans. It has now been twelve years for which they have been waiting to reach the playoffs.
What went wrong and where it went wrong is something that even Gailey found hard to answer. Earlier after the Bills lost to the Chargers, a confused Gailey could not come up with a straight answer. He accepted that it was his responsibility
to find an answer but said that he didn’t have it “today”. He did point out though that several things may have gone wrong, particularly the offense which he said didn’t fare in the end like it had in the first seven weeks.
Gailey however tried to sound hopeful and comforting. He said, "We didn't get there this year, but I do believe we can get there. I believe we have the personnel people upstairs in place to get it done. I think we’ve got the coaches
that can get it done. I think we’ve got the things in place. We’ve just got to keep building. We’re obviously not there, but we showed of a glimpse of what we might be earlier this year."
Gailey is an experienced coach who has worked for several teams of NFL. He has served the Pittsburgh Steelers after which he was spent some time as an offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. He
is also the former Head Coach of Dallas Cowboys.
