Coach Freddie Roach says Amir Khan’s power increasing day-by-day – Boxing news
Amir Khan’s trainer Freddie Roach has claimed his fighter’s power is increasing on a daily basis, as he has started throwing punches with a lot of power.
The Irish-American trainer Roach, who is one of the most well-known trainers in the world, revealed he had to get a new body protector for himself, as Khan is punching him so hard that he has hurt his ribs on both sides.
Roach stated the 24-year-old Bolton belter, Khan, is getting better with every camp and he is feeling every bit of it.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said “Amir is really hurting me, digging me in the ribs. He’s really maturing. When he first started I used to only feel a punch every now and then but now when Amir let’s go I am feeling every other punch. It hurts when
he lands. I’ve had to get a new body protector. Amir is getting stronger with every fight.”
The 51-year-old Roach in the end however made a staggering revelation as he said he has two United States Olympians in his gym and both of them have not been able to match Khan’s pace.
He remarked the Olympians did a great sparring session but they all were knocked down when his fighter stepped in the ring.
“Flyweight Rau’shee Warren and featherweight Raynell Williams were doing great for a short while running with Amir but as soon as he put his foot down they could not keep up with him,” said Roach.
Amir ‘King’ Khan is set to face the current IBF light welterweight champion, Zab ‘Super’ Judah, in a unification bout this weekend on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
This is the biggest fight of Khan’s career so far. Let’s see whether Khan, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 17 by the way of a knockout, can really see off the experienced Judah in front of his home crowd or not.
