Coach Gary Kubiak backs QB Matt Schaub-led Houston Texans beyond regular phase – NFL News
The Houston Texans have proved their critics wrong once again to become first team in the National Football League (NFL) to reach the playoffs round, for second straight time, while showing an immense amount of maturity, sensibility and teamwork.
A number of commentators attempted to write off the Texans as one-time-off second round winners and immature side that despite showing up on the field as Super Bowl contenders did not have much chance to last longer.
All those critics were baffled on Sunday (Dec 02) that the very same team that was being discarded as minnows made it to the playoffs for the second time straight with only single loss in the season (11-1).
There are still four more games to go for the Texans to prove their mettle on the field and further surprise their opponents, and no one should be surprised if they win the Super Bowl. It is for the first time that quarterback Matt Schaub has led the team
right from the front, as if they had been playing playoffs more than Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco.
Let’s not forget running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson without whom the trio of the offensive line is incomplete. They have played like a veteran from any experienced side.
Coach Gary Kubiak said this was what his players had planned for and they come with a proper plan into each game and that his side has shown to be more mature than any other side in the league. There was a fear that the team might fall complacent to wins
hype earlier in the season but passage of each game increased the players’ sense of responsibility, which is a remarkable improvement in the team, the coach admits.
They are the only team in the league that has remained unbeaten on road and their only loss at home is also insignificant to mention given they otherwise have a perfect season. The coach and players alike have boasted their preparedness for the second round
and surely they have some experience of the past season and more wins can be on their way if present level of forms is continued.
