Coach Gary Kubiak boasts WR Andre Johnson’s role to Houston Texans’ win prospects – NFL News
Houston Texans elite wide receiver Andre Johnson has managed well on the fitness end so far this year while being equally successful in stepping up his game level, and coach Gary Kubiak has backed him as crucial to the team’s hopes of doing even better this
season.
The Texans have started the new season on a superb note by winning both their opening games to be atop the American Football Conference (AFC) South division, and the result is achieved courtesy of good performance by all departments.
Andre is particularly important to the overall offensive strategy of the team, and if he is able to maintain fitness throughout the season, the Texans can achieve any goal set forth by them.
He has no complaint as far as injuries are concerned which cost him almost the entire past season. He had started the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season with a hamstring injury and could not make it to the initial three games. The receiver then returned
to play a few games in between before missing another six straight with the same problem.
Andre looked hundred percent during this offseason before suffering a knee problem that required him to undergo a minor procedure to get removed an irritating cartilage. He after missing the preseason is now back with the team and managed well in the first
two games.
The team realises that fitness of players like Andre is important to its chances of reaching into any phase beyond the regular season this year, although they have come on the field as Super Bowl contenders, for the first time in the franchise’s history.
Last season was one of the worst times for the Texans. They, at one point, had become quarterback-thin by losing not just one but two elite quarterbacks to respective injury problems, but then were successfully pulled off by rookie QB T.J. Yates.
Their receivers’ situation was even worse as Johnson had kept struggling on his fitness end. Now the team aims for a higher level of fitness and form for all players to achieve the target of reaching Super Bowl title game which does not look like an easy
one given Texans have only a year experience of playing in postseason.
