Coach Mike Mularkey urges Jacksonville Jaguars not to let pair of losses dictate future – NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars first-year coach Mike Mularkey, who is yet to score a win since his joining of the team as a head coach in January this year, has one message for the team and that is not to let the pair of losses dictate their future.
The coach himself has attempted rather successfully to display a positive posture despite starting the season with two consecutive losses amid lingering question of the team’s ability under reign of the new owner and new coach to stage a turnaround and maintain
a winning run.
Coach Mike said:
"I'm not going to let the one game dictate and really define us as who we are. I told them that no matter how you feel, there's a lot of good still going on just like we felt when we came into the season. I still feel that way. I think they do, too. I'm
hoping that one game doesn't curb their mind like it does some of yours. I'm going to do my best to make sure it doesn't."
The Jaguars had come closer to winning against the Minnesota Vikings in the opening game of the season but were not closer enough to claim it, and then their second game versus the American Football Conference (AFC) South division rivals Houston Texans proved
a disastrous one. They were nowhere closer to claim it an even fight, and the game ended as completely one-sided from beginning to end.
Although the coach has done his best to give the team a belief that they can win against any side in the league, performance of some players, particularly quarterback Blaine Gabbert, is a source of worry for the coach.
An important question about the quarterback is about his inconsistency – he fails to build on his good performance. For example, he had a good opening game against the Vikings, bringing his side quite nearer to win and then ended the next one versus the
Texans with fewest-ever 53 yards achieved.
Blaine has to perform consistently well if the Jaguars think they can stand a chance of a better run this season. The team appear set to end another season on the same disappointing note, otherwise.
