Coach Pat Shurmur in dire with Cleveland Browns injuries before New York Giants game – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns hit the field for practice on Monday (Oct. 01) without six key players who are out on the sidelines nursing their respective injuries while coach Pat Shurmur is clueless how many of them can make it to their next weekend game against
the reigning Super Bowl champions the New York Giants.
So many injuries with only four games to start of the fresh season do not bode well with victory hopes and chances of the Browns for the rest of the season.
Pat said:
"We'll put the guys on the field that can play."
Wide receivers Mohamed Massaquoi, Travis Benjamin and Josh Cribbs, and safety T.J. Ward were on the field on the day for training and with a pair of other players already on the sidelines, the coach did not have much to say except for waiting until Friday,
expecting the situation to become clearer by then.
The coach said all these players are now day-to-day and will be evaluated for their ability to return and sustain training for all sessions this week before making a final decision on participation by each one of them.
Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden on the other hand has attempted to play cool about absence of so many of his colleagues calling it to be a nature of the business. He said:
"It's the nature of the business. We're hoping for good news on Mo, Josh and Travis. If not, the other guys will have to step up."
Lucky for Weeden, he has so far maintained good health and fitness level, although has suffered in form and is yet to lead the team to first victory of this season.
The Browns have lost all four games of the season and are up against rather tougher side of the New York Giants with only a few chances to beat them.
Apparently, the time is running out for the coach, who is in the second year with the Browns. The franchise has already been sold, and now injury scares are not helping him at all to convince the new owner of his credentials as a coach.
