Coach Phil Simmons confident Ireland can bounce back against Bangladesh – Cricket News Update
Despite their 71-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the ongoing T20I series, Ireland’s head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Philip-Verant-Simmons-c82175 has expressed confidence in his side’s ability to bounce back.
“I've spoken with Pete Johnston (assistant coach) and the players about what went wrong and hopefully the fans will see a much different Ireland performance this time,” he said.
“The manner of the defeat has certainly hurt the players but they have the character and the ability to bounce back,” he added. “That has become the trademark of this Ireland side in recent years -we always fight back in adversity, and with the backing of the Belfast crowd I'm confident we can go on and win the Series.”
Bangladesh’s ongoing tour of Europe involves a 3-match T20I series against Ireland at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont, Belfast (from July 18 to 21), due to be followed by an only T20I against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 at the same venue on July 25.
The tour affords the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 during the Asia Cup they hosted in Dhaka during March this year.
The series against Ireland has done nothing to dent their confidence as yet. The Bangladeshis breezed through the first two tour matches – the first one was played against the Ireland XI, which the tourists won by 7 wickets, while the second was played against the NCU President's XI which the visitors again won by 48 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045’s men followed that up with a 71-run win in the first T20I against Ireland at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast on July 18.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 cut off at 119 by the end of 20 overs.
However, Ireland will be looking to make a comeback and Simmons believes the team has what it takes to come out on top during the second T20I of the series, scheduled to be played at the same venue today on July 20.
