Coach Tey Seu Bock says Lee Chong Wei will not take any opponent easy in Japan Open Super Series
Men’s Singles national coach of Malaysia, Tey Seu Bock said that top seed, Lee Chong Wei will not take any opponent for granted at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series, which is set to begin on September 20, in Tokyo, Japan.
Lee Chong Wei, who has been occupying the World Number One position for last three years, will be facing some tough shuttlers in his way towards the Men’s Singles final of the championship.
The qualifying round of Japan Open starts today in Tokyo, but there are no shuttlers from Malaysia in the Men’s Singles category as only Chong Wei is representing the nation in this tournament.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei has been displaying incredible performances by playing high-class badminton since January 2011, as he has contested in eight tournaments and won six out of them. Now, the top seed is looking forward to keep this killing form intact
at the Japan Open, which is the seventh leg of the Badminton World Federation Super Series events of the year.
Seu Bock wants Chong Wei to not take anything easy in the championship, as it is the qualifying round for 2012 London Olympics. While speaking about the World Number One shuttler, Seu Bock said, “This is not the time for him to take it easy. It is the Olympic
qualifying period and every tournament is important.”
The coach further added, “All the tournaments before May this year do not count towards the Olympic qualifying points. It means Chong Wei will have to continue to push himself to maintain his number one spot in the world until the one-year qualifying period
ends next May. We want Chong Wei to enjoy the top seeding at the London Olympics.”
The Malaysian hero will take on Rajiv Ouseph of England in the first round and is expected to meet Wang Zhengming of China in the second round. The Chinese is probably the toughest opponent in the draw, as he has the talent to cause an upset.
