Coach doesn't play me in games?

I am on the Freshman volleyball team at my high school, and i have never played volleyball before, but busted my butt to get on the team. We'ce had about 4 games and a tournament so far, and I've only been played once, at the end of a match, when they knew I couldn't s***w things up. I try most of the time at practice, but my serve and pass are not consistent(im working on those!) During games, mostly the same people are on the court, and many of them don't try at all, or don't care. How can I get more playing time?

  1. just strait up ask the coach why ur not playin how u can get more playin time and tell the coach u dont think ur teamates r tryin.its tough i no but u have to just go for it ive had to do it before its tuf but perserver

  2. you must be realy bad

  3. Have you asked this before?

    anyway,

If you're on the team you must be on there for a reason. You were good enough to get on the team, so they at least think you have potential. (unless there were no cuts.lol)

You know better than anyone on here what your abilities and your teammates abilities are. Your coach should have told the team what his/her expectations were for the season. If your team is competetive in its league your coach may only play the best (or who they think are the best) 6 or 7 players. However, if you are not competitive or one of the "go to" players is struggling in a game, she should be able to depend on some of the people on the bench to not go out and completely s***w up. like let balls drop or not move to play the ball. Coaches hate lack of effort. If you show the coach hustle and communication in practice thats good. Also be a good benchwarmer-- don't pout or ignore the game,,, cheer on teammates and maybe sit next to the coach and listen to what they say.

If you reallt think you deserve more playing time, talk to the  coach.

ask "coach what are the players you put on the floor doing that  I'm not" and "what can I  do to  get out there"

just keep working your butt off in practice. and have a positive attitude.

    GOOD LuCK

  4. put in some more time before and after each practice ... this worked to get my a starting spot.

    good luck

  5. Maybe you don't play in the games is  you don't try you best at practices. If you dive straight out you might get the ball up better. So try you best you can do it.

  6. well that's not fair!

your couch should know better than to act so immaturely.

highschool volleyball may be very competitive but it's not professional.

I would suggest talking to your couch and requesting him/her for more time in the games. Also, ask them if they could give you some pointers during practice that would help you improve your skills. That's what couches are meant to be doing. Besides, if you aren't able to gain experience from the games, how else will you really improve?

    Best of luck!

  7. Based on what you described it is all normal.

Keep working hard on your consistency and you will be the Rookie of the Year... you must give them 120% of your effort.

  8. if your on the team, you're obviously on the team for a reason. Try talking to your coach, maybe even some of your teamates, let your coach know that you're trying your hardest and would appreciate if he let you play in every game.

good luck, and hopefully he/she will be a good coach and let you play just like he should to every player on his/her team.

  9. Well, when you said that you busted your butt to get on your team, then bust your butt everyday!!!!! Show the coaches that you want to play more than anyone else out there. Always hustle at practice and during games. Hustle all the time, and if the ball hits the floor, be on the floor with it trying to get it!!!!!!! Give them your all. DON'T try your best, BE your best!

  10. Try ALL of the time at practice! And get better.
