I have a coach, and he has three people on my volleyball team that suck. they can't overhand serve, don't know the 6-2, can't set, and think they are better than everyone else. I have tried talking to my coach, but he insists they are only sideline players, which is a complete lie. We had been on a club team, and now we play spirit for the off season, and i really don't want to play with them, but

a) i have nowhere else to go

b) my parents won't spend a lot of money

What do i do?

p.s

i made a team for my school and am a REALLY good setter and outside. i get frustrated with people when they mess up the same thing over and over again

  1. Well, I have a lot and a little to say about this topic. For one, it doesnt matter how good you are its a team sport. If these girls are as bad as you say they are, your coach will notice and say something. All you need to do is focus on you and better yourself in every way possible.

  2. I can totally sympathize with you bc i too hate it when ppl have no idea what theyre doing and yet they get to play.  just relax and concentrate on your game and dont worry about theres yet it would be ok to keep a watchful eye on them so you can take over if you have to.  but know that if they had to tryout to play then you  have a reason to be angry but if it is just show up and play then they have every right to be there as you do they are trying to get better just like you are.  you could also try to help them to improve so that they know what to do!

  3. Honestly, I understand what you are saying, however, your attitude will get you into a lot of hot water.  Volleyball is a team sport and isn't about you.  You should be encouraging these players and if they have an attitude, the coach should be reprimanding them.  Often times, coaches are pressured by parents to pick certain kids.  I think that is total bull that coaches give in, but it is a fact of life.  You need to start focusing on being a team player.  Good players make the team look good.  You say they act like they are better than everyone else but from what you say it seems like you feel that way about yourself.  It can be frustrating when skill levels are so unbalanced on a team, but talk to the coach.  If that doesn't work than talk with your captains.  Between all of you the problem should get resolved.  Perhaps they can focus on certain drills.  Everyone needs improvement and it is up to your coach to help everyone focus on their weakness to improve.  Once that is done, everyone will be able to use their strengths to overcome some weaknesses and get some wins.
