Coach reveals GSP is ready to take on Anderson Silva – UFC News
Welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre is finally ready to take on middleweight champion Anderson Silva, as reported by his coach Firas Zahabi. It should be noted here that Georges St-Pierre is already considering a fight against division number one contender
Johny Hendricks. However, GSP’s move to fight Hendricks does not mean he is not looking forward to a fight against Silva.
“I asked him if he wants to fight Anderson. He told me, ‘Yes,' but I think there's a lot to be negotiated, so I don't know much more than that,” said GSP’s trainer to MMA Fighting.
“If one day they tell me he's fighting Anderson Silva, I'll treat him accordingly. If they tell me he's fighting Nick Diaz, I'll treat him accordingly. In Canada, I get asked mostly about Diaz, I would say. When I'm in the States, Silva. But back home, it's
just Diaz talk all the time. I don't know why. I can't explain it,” he added.
GSP made his comeback against interim champion Carlos Condit on UFC 154 last month. While many were considering that the welterweight titlist has faded out, GSP proved them wrong by putting up a superb performance, probably better than any of his previous
ones.
On the other hand, middleweight champion Anderson Silva is already looking forward to a super-fight against GSP, believing that the latter is the only opponent who can give him a tough fight.
Following his win over Condit, GSP declined the fight offer against Silva, asserting that he needs time to think over it. However, now as his trainer says, GSP is ready to go for it. It should be noted here that GSP or his coach has not given a deadline
for the fight, neither has Silva.
In other words, fans should not be excited with the idea yet, as you know never know this might turn into another Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super-fight drama. It is better to wait until the final announcement comes in from UFC officials confirming the fight.
Keeping hopes too high to see the best collide can only prove hazardous if the unexpected happens.
