Coal can be converted into petro-hydrocarbons rather efficiently via the Fischer-Tropsch Process- named after brilliant German chemical engineers who invented and perfected it.

Ruhr coal was used almost exclusively to fuel the n**i war machine after losing their North African oil sources in 1941-2. They kept battling for 3 more years on Ruhr black coal.

Yet today- oil prices make this lucrative. Imagine the job boost!

Great idea. Just got to get all the oil companies to get it done. I know you are telling the truth because my wise old father (lives in Australia) said exactly the same thing but I tell you, I just don't think that the world power's are sensible enough right now to get it done.
