Coal versus wood vs. corn stove? Which is better?

I would like to invest in a stove for the next winter as I'm sure I won't be able to afford my heat otherwise. Any suggestions on which is the better option? I did have a coal stove about 10 years ago, so I'm familiar with how that operates, but thought there might be better options these days. Do corn stoves need to have electricity to operate? Will I need to put a chimney up for all of them?

I would get an outdoor wood stove.  Corn is going to be too expensive to buy this year, and by using a wood stove, you will be clearing dead trees out of the woods, making room for new trees to grow.

None of these are actually good for the environment, but I feel wood is the best option.
