Coastal rowing??

Question

Going rowing for the first time tonight, think i'm just a passenger tonight to begin with. can any one give me any advice/tips? Like which side is port etc? don't want to make a complete fool of myself!!! We'll be going out into the sea, 4 people in the boat and then the person who steers.

from your angle in a four boat starboards oars go to the left and ports go to the right...

attho from a stern coxed point of view that would be opposite.

the back of the boat is the stern and the front of the boat bow and the little ball on he end is the bow ball.  So when rowing in pairs in a four there is bow pair (1,2) middle pair (2,3) and stern pair(3,4)

be very careful witht he boat and always listen to your coxswain... most bats are going to be more expensive then your car... have fun!
