Question:

Coating for a wooden work bench?

Hello good people of Yahoo answers,

I need to come up with a coating for a wooden work table. Epoxy coating would be ideal but it's out of question due to complexity of application and amount it will end up costing me (the table is large). Is there any coating that can be also smooth and glossy, yet easier to apply than epoxy? Thank you in advance.

  2. Simple! Best is to coat with water base clear polyurethane 4 hardwood floors. You have ease of application, a clear coat, its smooth, its tough. You will need 2 or 3  thin coats, recoat time is like 1 hr, use small  lambswool applicator and fine brush. If you are going on to raw wood you may have to seal first, if going over previous finish you may have to lightly sand.  Stir do not shake poly or you may get bubbles. Buy at the same place that hardwood floor refinishers buy at or that rents equipment for floor refinishing, also for lambswool applicator and brush, they are normally in the yellow pages, if you cannot find in book call a hardwood floor finisher and ask 4 local supplier. 30 years contractor.
