Coax Cable Won't s***w In.?

I bought a Coax cable and about halfway through it seems to be...stuck. Should I buy a pliers? I bought the cable for my LCD HDTV, and its RG-6/u and 75 Ohm in case you need to know. Apparenlty no one else has stupid problems like this but I am getting frustrated.

  1. Unscrew it and make sure that the center conductor ( a solid strand wire) is not bent. It has to go into the little hole on the socket. Try to reinstall it and see if it goes in farther. You should not have to use a pliers or really force it to tighten up.

  2. Sometimes the fitting is cross threaded and after a few turns it sticks.

Back it out and carefully align it.  Often alignment is the challenge, especially with the stiffness of the coax cable

You may need a wrench but you should not have to apply any amount of torque to it; if it is cross threaded you will damage things so be very careful.

  3. ==> Some connectors simply are not as deep as others.

Also, inspect the TV side for a nick in the threads. You may need a flashlight and a mirror.

Are you getting a signal? If so, leave it as is.

  4. Not all coaxial cables go all the way into the port. They may stop in the middle of the port, which is 100% normal. It really depends on what kind of connector it is, and how much it lets you s***w it into the port. As long as you get audio and video, everything is okay.

  5. You have cross threaded the terminal.

Back it off and try again.  Carefully. NO pliers

Be patient before you cost yourself $$.
