  1. One is called a "Coax Stripper" and you can get them from Radio Shack.  Get the more expensive one that handles RG6 and RG59 because the thickness of these cables is NOT standardized.

The cable companies use what are called "Compression Fittings" which use special connectors with waterproof seals.  These are great - but the tool is expensive and you have to buy the matching connectors and it mainly benefits outdoor connections.

A better way is to get a ratcheting crimp frame for about $22 and a set of RG6 or RG59 dies (another $25) and then you can use more generic F connectors.

Strong suggestion: buy 5 extra F connectors , cut some coax and practice stripping/crimping at least 3 times before you attack your real coax.  The first one or two are usually loose/crappy, but you pick up on the technique quickly.

Also - Radio Shack has a "T" handle to help push on the connectors. This really saved my thumbs when I re-wired 2 runs of coax to every room in my house.
