Okay... I'm going to try to explain this as best as possible with my limited tv geek knowledge. : ) So I have a tv with NO coaxial hookup only RCA? (which I am told makes my tv more like a monitor). I need to hook up the tv directly to the cable from the wall (no cable box). How do I do this?!? I've tried an RF modulator but it doesn't work. I need to get the coax cable into the RCA spot without a cable box. Is there another device that will work? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

  1. You'll need to use something like a VCR or DVR or DVD recorder that has a built-in tuner in it.  You'll connect the coax cable to the VCR/DVR/DVD-Recorder, and then connect this to your TV with the RCA cables.

Set the TV to use the input where the RCA cables are connected (e.g. "Video 3")You can then use the VCR/DVR/DVD-Recorder's remote to channel surf.  You can also record TV shows this way as well - but it will tie up the tuner, meaning you'll be unable to change the channel while something is being recorded.

Since you are using cable TV for your TV, the new digital tuners/converters will not help you, even though these are just a tuner box.  However, these are for the new broadcast format that will be used by your local channels using your antenna.  Your cable provider is not affected by this.
