Cobra XRS 9930?

I bought a Cobra XRS 9930, and was

wondering if anyone has had any problems

with this device. I was driving home

tonight and a cop was sitting there on the

side of the road and was waiting for

some one to stop. It was a speed trap, why

did my detector not go off. I have all the important s

settings on.

Thanks for your time

  1. That indeed might be true. However, another distinct possibility is that the cop was just there to get people to slow down and not actually running radar at all. My good friend is a cop, and they do that a lot here where I live. One good way you might tell is by putting it in highway mode, be sure you have X band set to on, and just drive down the nearest commercial strip. If you don't get a bunch of false alerts, either mcDonald's isn't running its microwaves and walmart's door openers aren't working, or you have a defective detector. about 90% of false alerts are on X band, as it it almost exclusively used in NJ and OH.

  2. I have seen this before and one of three things could be wrong, 1. the unit was not correctly calibrated from the factory, 2. these units sometimes have problems in the cold weather and 3. it is defected.

Call the manufacturers tech department and you might have to send it back in for repairs of a replacement.
