  1. They should hatch within the next 4-6 days.

But then your problems start it is very difficult to brood and rear  young birds and unless you have the time and patience you will not be very successful if you have never done this before.

The parents could have left the eggs because they can sense there is something wrong with the chicks.

You will see the young hatch but let them come out of the shell on their own as they will have the yolk sack attached to them, this is their food for the first day of their life.

    Good luckin your venture.

  2. You have approximately 3 more days before the egg will hatch. It will start near the center (largest part of the egg). The chirping you hear is the gas escaping. FYI They have a little spike on their beak that will tap away on the egg. Do not help them; if they come out too soon it could be fatal.

Use this time to go to the pet store and buy the powdered formula, a syringe feeder, a thermometer (for checking temp of water) and a piece of fleece that you can cut up. A heating pad that you can set on low.

You will also need a separate cage to keep the baby birds in. You 'Cannot' leave the babies in the same cage as the parents!! Urgent !!

Read the directions carefully on the bird formula. This is very important. It can not be too hot or you could burn their crop; nor too cold or you will have an impacted crop. both could be fatal.

If you want detailed information; please email me. I have a baby Cockatiel that is three weeks old. I go through this several times a year.

It is a lot of work; but, it does something to you spiritually when you raise a tiny baby bird to adult hood.

  3. Incubation is about 18 days.  Assuming you are able to keep the egg at 99 degrees, rotate it ever 12 hours, and keep the humidity level high enough, it should hatch.

If it does begin to hatch, do not try to help.  You will want to help, but resist the urge.  You will just hurt the baby.

Start doing your research.  If you are going to raise this bird, you have to start feeding it every two hours around the clock real soon.  You have to get your brooder, food and sterilization all worked out pronto.

Take a look at my Flickr photos below to see what you are getting into.
