  1. The other cockatiels should be fine with the egg. The father will not want to be separated from his mate, cockatiels are social and that is the way they should be. Cockatiels are good parents and should know what to do on their own.

I have a different opinion from one of the other posters about throwing eggs away. I don't recommend it because the female is likely to lay another. The best thing to do is to boil the egg for about 10 minutes, allow it to cool, mark it with a mark of some sort, then replace it. She will think her egg is doing fine, and not feel the need to lay another. After a few weeks, just throw the egg away. Be sure to mark the egg so that you know which ones have been boiled if she lays a new one.

Some people will refrigerate the egg for 4 days, but that isn't always enough to stop the egg from hatching.

  2. If you don't want babies (which is a huge ordeal if something goes wrong) just throw the egg away. Are the other cockatiels male? If not the egg won't be fertile anyway. Don't worry, the mother won't be upset if she can't hatch every egg she lays.

edit:  Here's a good link to some info about what to do to prevent egg laying. Or if you'd rather breed them, you can get that info too. Looks like my advice to throw it away wasn't right, I guess my cockatiel book is out of date. Sorry.
