  1. Cockatoo is good talker and very easy to teach and goes along well with other breed of parrots but never place them on the same cage. Try to introduce them to each other by regularly keeping their cages near to each other.

    Goodluck to your birds.

  2. Our parakeet, Cockatiel and Millitary Macaw are all housed where they can see each otehr and talk to each other.  They call back and forth, teach each other calls and human words, and generally seem to enjoy the proximity.

That being said, we NEVER put them in the same cage or leave them alone together outside of their cage.  The Macaw could easily kill either of them with what, in his world, is just a "warning bite."  Parakeets actually have been known to kill bigger birds up to and including cockatiels, believe it or not.

Edit:  A note on Cockatoos.  They are warm and wonderful brids, very smart, very friendly (usually, there are exceptions) and generally "love sponges."

HOWEVER they are also the most emotionally dependent of all the large hookbills.  You will be its best friend and probably the love of its life.  if you can't commit the time to give it regular attention for the next 50 to 80 or so years (large hook bills live about as long as humans) its cruel to try to own one.

If you live in a family situation and there are others who can pay it attention that will help some, but they tend to bond strongest to their "primary human."  (Also, that should only be adults and/or older children who have been properly trained and can be trusted to "play nice with the birdie.")

  3. A larger bird should never be housed with a cockatiel.  That is inviting your tiel to be injured or killed.

Any bird that you choose should be fine in another cage, but you will need to quarantine first.  At least 30-60 days in another room with a separate air flow and you need to wash and change clothing when going from one bird to the other.

No bird is guaranteed to talk, you can choose from breeds that are more likely, but if talking is your concern, work on teaching your tiel to talk, you will have just as much success.

  4. I had a cockatiel and a conure parrot that got along pretty well.  (Unless you mean get along in the same cage - never house them together.)  But they did well most of the time when I let them out together to play.  If the parrot got too feisty with the cockatiel he'd go back in his cage.

Never, ever leave them out unattended though.  A bigger bird can do a lot of damage quickly if it got in a fight with the smaller one.
