Hello. My boyfriend lives in a fishing village in Holland and is abundant with Cockels and often alot of Vietnamesse people go to the beach to pick them. My question is, How do you tell the difference between a good one and a bad one? Obviously if there open there no good, but is there a way of telling the good from the bad when they are closed, e.g colour etc. thank you folks :)

  1. There is no instant way of differentiating between good Vietnamese people and bad ones.  Most of them are the same colour.  One rule of thumb is that most of the bad ones get sent picking cockles.

  2. WHATS A COCKEL?

  3. I don't know how to advise you..

But IF I were to be there I would look for an senior and offer him $5.00us to teach me.

  4. You can really only tell a bad one AFTER they've been cooked when they will just not 'look right' nor smell like the rest of them - and by the way, their name is a Cockle!
