hahaha... OK, you know the "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" song? It came from Lion King, right? The toucan thing (Zazu?) sang it?

Well, around the time when the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out, I, for some reason, thought Capt. Jack Sparrow created that song lol. I hadn't seen the Lion King in years, and hadn't watched the PotC movie yet... a guy I went to school with, who was obsessed with Johnny Depp/PotC was singing that song one day, so I for some reason that it was from the pirate. lol.

Just curious, but did ANYONE think the same thing too? Please don't tell me I'm the only weird one out there! lol

  1. Pirates trilogy are my fav movies in the world and I really like Lion King as well, but I never related them together in any way. And that song is definitely not from pirates.

  2. that song was composed in 1944. it's not a disney song at all

    from Wikipedia:

"I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" is a well-known novelty song dating from the 1940s. It was composed in 1944 by Fred Heatherton, an English songwriter, and celebrates the traditional coconut shy (coconut toss) sometimes found at fairs.

The song was first recorded by Danny Kaye, the actor/singer/comedian famous for such movies as White Christmas and The Court Jester. Kaye became aware of the song in a successful tour of the UK featuring sellout performances at the Palladium and appearances in Royal Command Performances. In 1950, the song became Danny Kaye's only big US chart hit. It was also later recorded by Merv Griffin and several other artists. The song is still played over the public address system at Cambridge United football matches after home wins.

The song appeared on I Could Go On Singing, mainly memorable as Judy Garland's last film. It also appeared on the Magical Mystery Tour, Beatles TV special broadcast by the BBC on December 26, 1967.
