Cody Hodgson, Buffalo Sabres’ forward maybe benefitted by the National Hockey League lockout
Cody Hodgson, a professional ice hockey player from Canada and currently associated with Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL) would be looking to make most of the opportunity to play in the American Hockey League (AHL) after the NHL lockout.
The 22-year-old centre is back to the minor league which he played four years ago in 2008-2009 season for Manitoba Moose but could not get any of the game but then again when he went their two years later in 2010-2011 season, he played 52 games and scored
17 goals and 13 assists for a total of 30 points.
Being back in the minor league after being one of the most consistent and prominent players of the top ice hockey league of the world does not make him disappointed but he is thinking about grabbing this chance in a best way and make some impact there before
the NHL begins again.
The Toronto, Ontario born centre considers himself more lucky and better than those players who are not doing anything or playing anywhere in the lockout, or those who are going abroad, playing away from their homes and families.
Hodgson is also confident of going very well and that would be his main goal as he thinks he is in a very good shape, as he said,
“I’m not looking too far into the future. My goal is to play well now. I’m in great shape and hopefully that translates into something positive in my performance”.
Players are naturally annoyed at the end of the long summer break and looking forward to getting back into the action and the same happened with him, as he said,
“You can only play games and practice and scrimmage for so long. I had a really good summer, but it was long. I’m excited to get back into a competitive atmosphere.”
The 6-foot-0, 185 pounder player would be playing for Rochester Americans in the AHL and it would be a new experience for him to be associated with a new team. He already has been attached with many teams since being selected 10th overall in the
first round of 2008 NHL Draft.
