Coffee Beans and Grinders?

Silly question I know. I have bought a coffee grinder ages ago for grinding spices and have now got some tesco coffee beans. Thing is my grinder has the settngs for minimum of 4 cups. How much (weight or no of beans) will need to be ground for a standard not strong cup of coffee. I can't find my manual anywhere.
