I have a Mr. Coffee 4 cup coffee maker (model CGX5), and recently I always have grounds in my coffee. I tried using different sized filters. Is this just a bad coffee maker, or whats the problem?

  1. 2 much coffee

  2. your grind may be too fine, or you may have too much coffee in the filter.

Try decreasing the grind a little, and slightly increase the amount of grind (odd i know, but the courser the grind the weaker the brew will be, so to compensate you need to add a bit more bean)

  3. try to only use ground coffee, if u arent alread,. Dont use beans.

  4. We had the same problem with our 10 cup model. Solution: flatten out / hollow the grounds into a bowl shape to stick the filter to the sides.

  5. You need to clean your coffee maker by running a 50/50 vinegar and water through it 3 times in a row. Then twice with clear water to rinse it. What is happening is that your coffee maker is dirty on the INSIDE and is clogging up. when that happens the water tries harder to get through it, sometimes the water gets stuck in the hose and then JETS STREAMS out into the coffee grounds filter instead of dripping. this splatters coffee grounds up and over the filter and into your coffee pot.
