Coin Collection..Does anyone know.....?

Does anyone know if storing coins in laminate paper will take any of the coins value away?

I said I didn't think so because I think the residue could be removed with alcohol but I am no coin collector :-)

  1. Laminating coins is something a coin collector never does. The process can damage the coins by eating into the metals as well as cause problems when taking the lamination off. Alcohol does not remove as much things as people think. The laminating process is unhealthy to coins as well as other items. Find another way to display them there are lots that will not harm the coins.


  2. Getting adhesive of any kind on coins is a definite no-no.  Double that if alcohol or other harsh chemicals are used to remove the residue; they also run the risk of degrading the coins' natural patina, and reducing their value to collectors.

    Instead, any coins that have value to collectors should be placed in holders that will help preserve their condition - and hence value - over the years.

    The most common types of these holders - and there are several - are relatively inexpensive, ranging from a couple of pennies to around ten cents each, in bulk, depending on type.  Here's a detailed analysis of the pros and coins of each type:
