  1. The 1892 Columbian Exposition 1/2 dollar was the first of the commemorative 1/2's. It had a mintage of 950,000 which is high for the commemorative series 1892-1954. It is not a rare or scarce item in terms of availability. It has a value in the circulated grade of very fine of $9.25 and the prices goes up to around $63 in mid uncirculated grade. The above value range is about what a dealer would pay. The 1892 is the lower mintage of the two Columbian 1/2's one was also struck in 1893. It is actually a nice coin and has a lot of historic value. One has to remember some coins have a lot of historical value, but low monetary one. I collect some series of coins as an investment and a lot just for fun or the history value. One can buy a coin from Japan made in the days of the Samurai for a few dollars or a Roman coin for $10 or less. I like to hold them and thing of who might have spent them and for what. Have fun it is a great hobby.

  2. Hello, yes this was the very first US Commemorative silve half-dollar, and was made in 92 & 93.  Depending, of course, on the condition the coin in worth in the range of $8.00 to $20.00.  I do have one of each and they are very historic coins.  I am a small collector and have approximately 150 coins from 1/2 cent to large dollar bill. I am 70 years old and mostly give to grandchildren, great  grands, nephews, etc.  Hope that you continue to collect for historical interest and value .   Best Regards
