  1. Don't worry it won't fail. Coins are no doubt valuable because there is certain amount of alloys in them which determines their price. But, don't get that serious.Remember hoarding money is an offense dear.

  2. with nothing to back up the US money supply unless the coins are all silver I don't  see how the coins will be worth anything. best thing to do is buy silver coins. silver will always be worth something.

  3. It depends on which coin you invest your money in.  A 1909 svdb penny has proven to be a very sound investment in the past as also has a 1916 d dime and an 1877 penny.

  4. The only coins that will retain value are the pre 1965 silver coins, known as "junk silver".  These coins contain 90% silver.  There is .72 troy ounce of silver in 10 silver dimes, 4 silver quarters, or 2 silver halves.  The spot price of silver determines how much you have to pay for these coins from a coin dealer, or how much he will pay you for them.

Real money has intrinsic value.  It is not valuable because government says it is, it gets its value from the fact that people want it.  Federal reserve notes are considered fiat money.  They have no real value.  Their purchasing power is based on legal tender laws, and how many are in circulation.  When more are printed up, we get inflation.  Prices go up, and then wages.  Our savings are destroyed.  Real money is unaffected by this.  real money retains its value.

Also, you might want to consider gold coins, like the US Eagle, the Canadian Maple Leaf, and the South African Krugerrand.  These coins contain one troy ounce of gold, but you can purchase smaller denominations in 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 ounce coins.

Several countries including the US, Canada and Mexico also make one ounce silver coins.  In my opinion, the Mexican onze is one of the most beautiful coins I have ever seen.

  5. precious metals, coins these days are c**p~!!!

  6. Coin has a broad meaning.

The coins that are used as money exchange today have no real value either-like the paper currency.

You have to focus on  'Pure' metals-coins such as copper, silver, and gold.

Take silver for example- regarding American coins-collec any silver dimes,quarters,1/2 dollars or dollars dated before 1964. These coins will have 90% pure silver. Silver is your best bet due to the reason that they are the best value right now.
