Question:

Coke Zero - Isn't false advertisement illegal?

I think we've all seen the commercials and the slogan that it's "Real coca cola taste," etc, etc. Well, if you, like me, have actually drank the stuff we know for a fact that its a pretty far cry from the original Cocal Cola flavour.

I've always been taught that false advertising was against the law, and the fact that they've been touting Coke Zero as having "real" Coca Cola taste, doesn't this fall under that category?

  1. I personally think that it does taste extremely similar to real coke. I think it depends on your opinions, but some people think it does, others think it doesn't..

  2. Each person's tastes are different and because of this, there can be no basis for false advertisement.

As for me, I can taste some difference in them, but I believe one tastes as well as the other. ;-)

  3. I love Coke Zero and while I don't think it tastes the same (Thank God, regular coke is nasty) - I think it is far better than Diet Coke.

If you are going to go after people - be sure and hit up the company that makes Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper as they have been saying for years that the two taste the same and that's a questionable claim as well.

Anytime you turn on the tube you can see false advertising, it used to be companies couldn't use the name of another company to slander or make their product look better. Now a days, they don't have any problems paying the fine, as long as they make sure and point out that their product is #1.

  4. You might say it tastes different but there are probably people who will claim it tastes the same.  This would be very hard for you to prove that it is false advertising.  Coca-Cola would probably be able to find plenty of people who like Coke Zero enough to come forward and say that they do not find a difference in taste.

  5. Tastes the same to me. See how it's all subjective?

  6. real coca cola taste may be what some people get from coke zero. i would rather drink cat pee honestly it is no where near the taste of coke . they use "power of suggestion" and If it makes people buy their product then they are succesful. it is false advertising. and it does suck majorly

  7. Depends what they lie about and if someone gets hurt. That is not illegal, because it is an opinion not a fact. If they lied about what was in the ingredients then that would be illegal. So an opinion can not be illegal, we have different taste buds. But yeah it taste like **** to me, that is why i wrote an compliant to the company.

  8. It's for diet drinkers. It tastes a heck of a lot more like it then Diet Coke does. I surely don't think anyone can sue them for it not tasting exactly like Coca-Cola.

  9. I don't think it tastes like "real Coke" either, but since it's a matter of opinion, I don't think it qualifies as false advertising.

  10. It's subjective I guess.  Even here in the US I think it tastes like c**p.  I like using Splenda in some things, but for some reason in soda it's just nasty.  We should sue!  Long live Diet Coke or Coke Light for the E.U.
