Cold, sinus ick, sore throat and heartburn indigestion funk?

Ok, I got a cold. Day 1 started with a sore throat and bad indigestion / heartburn (Tums didn't help, but Pepsid ok). Day 2 with more sinus blockage (so I took a Musinex tab - some help), no sore throat, and I just felt run down tired & didn't sleep good (too warm). 3rd day - ugh, sinus congestion (took one Musinex in A.M. - some help again), and the indigestion is back. I can live with the cold c**p - but what's up with the indigestion / heartburn with a cold? I've never had that happen before. (I have not eaten any acidic foods like tomatoes, and no sodas, no alcohol drinks, etc.) I'm drinking a lot of water to keep hydrated. I'm not allergic to anything.

  1. The indigestion comes for two reasons.  First, when you swallow large amounts of mucous it irritates the lining of the stomach, which in turn increases the acid in your stomach.  Second, when ever something goes into your mouth or throat, your stomach gets ready for the process of digestion so your acid production increases.  You should try to maximize your fluid intake as that will thin out the secretions.  Try to eat regular meals which will absorb the acid, and if Pepcid helps, keep taking it.  You should also check with your doctor.

    Sincerely,

    Doc

  2. maybe you need to clean your system out

    try a laxative

    keep drinking lots of water

you could also have a sinus infection

    try sudifed

the heartburn might be coming from the medicine your taking too
