i know that the major difference between cold air intake and ram air intake is that cold air is just colder and denser than ram air and ram air is just warmer. BUT MY QUESTION IS WHAT ABOUT THE STOCK AIR INTAKE??? Does the temperature and air density fall between cold air and ram air, OR is it the same temperature as the ram air, OR is it even warmer than the ram air?

extra info if yall like:

because I'm trying to decide between cai and rai but cai is more expensive. and if cai is more expensive and rai makes the engine hotter than the stock then i might as well just stick with a cai. but if rai has the same effect of engine heating as my stock then i might as well just buy an rai because a cai is too expensive. Comprende amigo?

  1. A short ram intake is designed to allow air to flow with minimal resistance. This provides slightly more power than your stock intake, because the stock intakes are usually very restrictive.

A cold air intake will allow for better flow than a stock intake also. And to add to that, a cold air intake will give greater power gains because it takes air from outside the engine bay which is usually cooler. The colder air will allow your gas to burn more effectively.

I know my 03 Accord's stock intake is similar to a cold air intake because the intake tube goes right behind the grill. It is still restrictive though, I would do better with a cold air intake.

  2. you are putting way too much thought into an upgrade that will give you close to no more power. If your civic is stock (N/A), then you would be better off getting a K&N replacement filter element.
