Question:

Cold air intake problem.?

I've bought a no name brand cold air intake for my 2008 Mazda3. After installing it, I turn my engine on and it kinda chokes out and then cuts off. When I got the intake, it did not specify that it was for the 08 model, however, after research I found out that the intake systems on the 08s are the same as previous years. I've also seen other air intakes for the Mazda3 that are compatible with every year including the 08.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

  1. HA cold air intake is a myth, you can increase air flow thru after market air filter which may or maynot void warranty depending on who you ask. probably you don't have a tight fit somewhere behind your map/mas sensor and are sucking unmetered air. make sure all connections in the intake system are tight, flush and even. even a tiny air leak totally screws your fuel/air mix which will keep your car from performing.

  2. did you re install all the vacuum lines correctly? are any sensors missing now? did you forget to plug something back in? an intake should have no affect on the cars running to that degree you should be able to run the car with no intake and all sensors hanging. re-check everything you did cause you did something wrong.

  3. your first mistake is buying no name, there cheap for a reason... there c**p, go to your local performance car place and buy a brannd name cold air intake, also buy a k&n air filter, its worth the money you spend, i wouldnt be suprised if that noname one will void the warranty from mazda, also get a mechanic to fit it if you dont know how.
