My 13 month old never showed any signs or symptoms of his first 8 teeth. But now his nose has been running for 8 days, he lost most of his appetie and has had some loose poo poo :). Past that he acts fine and but has very low grade fever. The docs said I "could" bring him in but from his symptoms they are pretty sure its allergies (we live in texas, allergy capital of the world) or getting his molors?

Any ideas? Which it could be?

Oh and he spent most of the night awake last night. Just playing in his crib and whining a bit here and there. We dont run to his room for that. Now he has been asleep since 945am and its 115pm.

  1. Does he have a fever?  Eyes red, watery? sneezing?

I would ask the doctor about giving tylenol and or benedryl.  It sounds like molars. Overload on the saliva/ sinuses  will make his poo do that.  do you feel them comming in when you rub your finger over them.?  If so give him some ice pops rubbed on it.  Don't let him do it himself , he might bite a big piece off and choke. .

  2. I am in Texas too, and yeah good luck to all of us with allergies. If the doc thinks allergies, then you may ask doc what allergy meds he recommends for you. I'm close to Dallas and my allergies are horrible and I have passed them to my kids.LOL....It's really hard to diagnose  not seeing the child, so I would encourage you to go on to the doc and you may find you have two problems instead of one. Who knows...

    Good Luck

  3. I am in TX too and my son's name is Brayden- funny that!

My son is now 14 months old and has his molars... I will tell you that the molars hurt him the most. He did run a little fever with it. It took forever for them to finally come in. I want to say about 2 weeks after the runny nose, the fever, and the crankiness started. I would feel all around and look for raised red or white swollen spots in his mouth. Also, you can try night time Orajel to see if that helps. We did that along with Motrin and it worked like a charm!
