Cold shooting Brandon Bass responds back with 8-for-10 night against Philadeplhia 76ers - NBA News
On Saturday night against the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics forward Brandon Bass had the worst shooting night of his career. He failed to score on all of his six attempts, making it the first time this season that the forward
had failed to register a field goal in the game.
He managed only 2 points on the night and that too from the free throw line. The poor shooting seemed to trouble his overall game as he only managed to grab 4 boards.
Even though, this did not trouble the Celtics as they defeated the Pacers 86-72, having an off night like that did not restrict the Celtic players from pulling his leg about it. Coach, Doc Rivers commented on the whole situation;;
“Like I keep saying, our locker room is great, I don’t know how many people kidded him about it," Rivers said. "Even today in shoot around, we were going over a play and I was saying, ‘Brandon, you’ll be open’ and the whole team
[joked], ‘If he can make a shot.' So you’ve got to have thick skin."
Nevertheless the shooting troubles for Bass did not last long as he responded back by scoring 18 points on a 8 for 10 shooting night as the Celtics crushed the Philadelphia 76ers 103-79 on Sunday at the TD Garden.
This was a highly efficient shooting performance for Bass as he shot the ball 80% from the field. Bass went to work early in the contest as he scored 8 points in the first half and added 10 more in the second half. He also had
6 rebounds on the night.
This was his best shooting percentage since being part of the starting five in the latter half of the season. Although Bass has been only a part of the first unit for 23 games, the effect he has had with his presence has been highly
significant - Bass has averaged 12.8 points and shot the ball 47 percent from the the floor in addition to being a noticeable force on the defensive end of the court.
So if he underperforms, which is rarity, it does not get unnoticed.
However if Bass responds like that after a couple of jokes, the Celtics players need to do that a lot more.
